5 MLB teams in playoff contention who have the toughest remaining schedule ft. Brewers, Mets and more
The MLB regular season is nearing its climax, and several teams are trying their best to qualify for the playoffs. With less than three weeks to go, every game is important to secure a spot in the Wild Card round. However, some teams have a hard schedule ahead before they make it to the postseason.
5 MLB teams in playoff contention with tough opponents
#1 New York Mets
The New York Mets are in a tight playoff race. The remaining games are only going to make things harder for the team. The biggest challenge for the Mets is their seven remaining games with the Philadelphia Phillies.
It does not stop there, as the Mets have to face the Atlanta Braves and the Milwaukee Brewers in a three-game series, respectively. The only easy opponent remaining for the Mets is the Washington Nationals.
#2 Milwaukee Brewers
The Brewers are leaders in the NL Central and will most likely clinch the division title. Yet, they have tough competitors ahead who can turn their MLB playoff race into a miserable one.
Milwaukee must face the Phillies in a three-game series. The Phillies hold the best record in the league (88-58). To make things worse, the Brew Crew must face the Arizona Diamondbacks in six games.
The D'backs are one of the top contenders, with just two games behind the Brewers. Additionally, the Brewers will have to play three games against the New York Mets.
#3 Atlanta Braves
The Atlanta Braves are still fighting for a playoff spot, but their biggest challenge is right around the corner. The Braves must take out the Los Angeles Dodgers in a four-game series before they face the Mets and the Kansas City Royals.
Atlanta's tough challenge in the next series with the Dodgers will be the deciding factor of their MLB playoff contention. The Braves have one of the toughest challenges for the MLB playoff contention.
#4 Houston Astros
Astros fans are still on the edge as their fight for the postseason is pretty much alive. The Astros might be at the top of the AL West, but the Mariners are right behind, waiting for a chance to leap.
The Astros must face the San Diego Padres, who are also competing for the playoffs. Their most difficult battle will be their three-game series against the Cleveland Guardians.
#5 San Diego Padres
The Padres have been in the race for the playoffs for quite a while. The Padres had to deal with key injured players like Fernando Tatis Jr. They continue to have tough competition with the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Some of the other teams that have a tough schedule are the Royals, Guardians, Yankees, and Orioles. The Yanks and O's have a better shot since they seem to be safe.
