5 players to watch out for in Yankees vs Red Sox series ft. Anthony Volpe, Ceddanne Rafaela

The New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox are one of the oldest rivals in the majors and they are set to play three games at Yankee Stadium starting Friday. Both teams are on contrasting notes lately.

While the Yankees have been red hot, going 7-3 in the last 10 games, the Red Sox have been opposite, going 3-7 in their last 10 games.

The series will feature key players making an impact and here's the list of five players who one needs to watch out for.

5 players to watch out for in Yankees vs Red Sox series

#1. Anthony Volpe (Yankees, SS)

Anthony Volpe has been a cornerstone for the Yankees. While he may have slowed down a bit in the last couple of games, the shortstop impacts the game on offense and defense. This season, he is hitting .237 along with seven home runs, seven stolen bases and 34 RBIs.

He'll look to improve his career numbers against the Red Sox. Against Yankees' divisional rivals, Volpe has a batting average of .181 with 17 hits, two homers, six RBIs and 10 runs scored in 25 games.

#2. Ceddanne Rafaela (Red Sox, CF/SS)

Ceddanne Rafaela has been a bright spot for the Red Sox, leading the team with 37 RBIs along with a .252 batting average, six home runs and seven stolen bases. He's red hot, having homered once in the last three games.

This season, he has come through for the Red Sox in clutch moments and the team will be hoping nothing less than that from him.

#3. Aaron Judge (Yankees, RF)

There's no bigger threat in all of baseball than seeing Aaron Judge at the plate. The reigning AL MVP is holding his own again this season, hitting to the tune of .392 along with 21 home runs and 34 RBIs in 227 plate appearances.

The Red Sox must get past his hitting if they stand a chance in this series.

#4. Rafael Devers (Red Sox, 3B)

If it's Aaron Judge for the Yankees, then it's Rafael Devers for the Red Sox. He is a key offensive contributor for the team, leading with 54 RBIs along with 12 home runs while hitting .285.

#5. Carlos Rodon (Yankees, LHP)

Carlos Rodon will take the mound for the Yankees during the series. He has done well lately, earning a win decision in seven straight games, with his last loss coming on April 13.

During this stretch, he has posted a 1.27 ERA, 0.85 WHIP and 70:15 K/BB in 56.2 innings.
