Anthony Rizzo landing spots: 3 ideal teams for 3x All-Star World Series champion after Yankees decline club option

Anthony Rizzo's time with the New York Yankees could be up. On Saturday, the Bronx Bombers declined their 2025 player option with the slugger, who is now a free agent.

While this was not his best season, he still has what it takes to make a difference, and teams will be calling. So, we take a look at three possible destinations for the three-time All-Star.

Three possible destinations for Anthony Rizzo

3) New York Yankees

While the Yankees declined his player option for next season, he could still come back on a new deal. He is comfortable with this team, having spent the last four seasons with them, but he would need to give them a discount.

He would not be the team's biggest concern, as that would go to signing Juan Soto. However, he is a player that some fans would not want to see playing in another uniform.

2) Minnesota twins

The Minnesota Twins are a team that will come into the offseason searching for a first baseman. Carlos Santana is a free agent this winter, and while they have options for first base, they are not the greatest.

Adding Anthony Rizzo here would certainly give a boost to their lineup. They have been a team that has been one or two pieces away from really going on a run and could buckle down with Rizzo this winter.

1) Houston Astros

The Houston Astros are another team that will be searching for a first baseman this winter. After releasing Jose Abreu this past season, they did not find a good replacement, which hurt their chances of a postseason run.

With the talent surrounding that lineup, they know they to fill the gaps if they want to continue their success. Signing Rizzo would not answer all their problems, but it would be a good start.
