Blake Snell Landing Spots: 3 potential destinations for 2x Cy Young winner after opting out with Giants

Blake Snell opted out of his contract with the San Francisco Giants. After no Spring Training, a very poor start to the year, and an injury, Snell bounced back and proved to everyone that he was still a good pitcher. He threw a no-hitter and overall played well.

Now, he's back on the market again, and it's likely that he won't have to wait so late to sign this year. Teams will likely move faster, and he will undoubtedly have multiple suitors. Of all the teams, these three make a lot of sense for the star pitcher.

Best places for Blake Snell to go in 2025

The New York Mets' 2024 rotation was filled with cast-offs and one-year prove-it deals. This year, they have money to spend. If they miss out on Roki Sasaki, they will likely turn to Snell. Snell would be a bona fide ace for them and he would be a huge benefit to helping them get over the hump. They made it to the NLCS last season, and a player like Snell could put them over the top and get them even further next year.

#2 Cleveland Guardians

Since Shane Bieber is a free agent, the Cleveland Guardians currently have the 29th-best rotation in baseball heading into 2025. A team that was in the ALCS can't survive on that again. Their overreliance on the bullpen ultimately burnt them out and helped pave the way for a loss in that series, so they can and should look at someone like Snell to help balance their pitching staff.

#1 New York Yankees

Assuming the New York Yankees don't sign Juan Soto, they can spend that money in a variety of ways. Adding Blake Snell to a rotation with six potential starters right now may seem like overkill, but Luis Gil and Nestor Cortes might make more sense in the bullpen. Either way, none of the current Yankee starters make an exceptional number two to Gerrit Cole, which is why they might look into Roki Sasaki or Snell, whom they had interest in last offseason.
