"Can you please let me in?" - When Freddie Freeman recalled the night he got locked out of his own house while wife Chelsea & sons slept inside
Los Angeles Dodgers All-Star Freddie Freeman's wife Chelsea has been one of the strongest supporting pillars for the first baseman in his baseball journey. However, the Dodgers star once shared how he was inadvertently left stranded by his wife.
In a dugout interview with AM 570 LA Sports in May earlier this year, Freddie Freeman recalled how he was locked out of his Orange County home in California after returning from a road series for the Dodgers.
"We got back, we landed in LA and was going back to Orange County 'cause that's where my family was," Freeman said. "We had a little bit of a drive back, so I got to the house around 1:30 in the morning. I tried to open the garage but couldn't get a connection, so that app didn't work.
"I knew my wife was sleeping and everything was locked. I didn't have a key, so I couldn't get into the house. So I sent a message: When you wake up, whenever that is, I'm outside sleeping on the couch, please let me in."
While Freddie shared that he dozed off on the couch, he was woken up by Chelsea around 2:15 in the morning and slept on the bed after being let in by his wife.
Chelsea recalls the scenes after Freddie Freeman's historic World Series hit
Freddie Freeman carried an ankle niggle for most of the Dodgers postseason, but the star first baseman remained committed to the cause. He stepped up when the team needed him the most as Freeman blasted a walk-off grand slam in World Series Game 1 to give the lead to the Dodgers in the Fall Classic.
It was the first grand slam in World Series history, and Chelsea Freeman shared the scenes when her son, Charlie, saw the hit in the Dodgers kids' room.
"He said all the kids were watching around, huddled around the TV, thinking, 'We're about to lose.' You know, really hoping not, but two outs in the 10th inning and we're down," Chelsea said. "Freddie hit that ball, and [Charlie] said they all just started going nuts, like jumping on him, like jumping up and down, like it was just the coolest moment ever."
Freddie was named the World Series MVP after homering in four consecutive World Series games this year and helping the Dodgers to an eighth World Series title and his second.
