D’Backs slugger Tommy Pham laughs off Torey Lovullo’s alleged HR prediction: “He’s lying”
Tommy Pham blasted a huge home run in NLCS Game 6. The Arizona Diamondbacks had their backs against the wall, down 3-2 in the series. Needing a win, they got some much-needed support from the outfielder. He went back to back with Lourdes Gurriel Jr. with Pham's blast opening the scoring in the top of the second.
According to manager Torey Lovullo, he knew it was coming. He claimed that he could foresee a home run for Pham, who hadn't been on fire offensively to that point.
MLB reporter Jon Paul Morosi asked Pham about his manager's comments, and Pham laughed them off:
"He's lying to you guys. He didn't know, he just... we had a long talk yesterday and he was really hoping that this would work today."
It obviously worked wonders. Paul Sewald recently spoke on needing to get off to a good start to try and take the fans out of the match. They were able to do that, going back-to-back in the second inning and never relinquishing the lead.
They scored three runs on the Philadelphia Phillies and never looked back. They earned a key win, and Pham's production was a big part of it. That home run was the only hit he mustered in Game 6, but without that hit, there's no telling what would have happened.
Tommy Pham has Diamondbacks on cusp of World Series
Tommy Pham's hit spurred the Arizona Diamondbacks to a huge win on Monday night. With their backs against the wall and needing a miraculous two-game winning streak, they started it off thanks to the home run and more.
Now, they need to keep the momentum going in Game 7. They need to once again start out hot and get runs on the board to try and mitigate the crowd. The Phillies are hungry to redeem themselves after last year's World Series loss, but the Diamondbacks stand in their way.
Can Tommy Pham, Corbin Carroll and company finally oust Trea Turner, Bryce Harper and the vaunted Phillies?
