Daniel Vogelbach Landing Spots: 3 potential destinations for former All-Star slugger coming off brutal 2024 campaign

The 2024 MLB regular season was one to forget for Daniel Vogelbach as the veteran slugger struggled to make much of an impact at the plate. The 31-year-old was limited to only 31 games last season with the Toronto Blue Jays and made little noise during those appearances.

Over his 31 games in 2024, Daniel Vogelbach posted a disappointing .186 batting average with only a single home run and 8 RBIs. With the Toronto Blue Jays struggling as the summer came around, Vogelbach was designated for assignment by the club in June but was released only a few days later.

As an unrestricted free agent, Vogelbach may have limited options this offseason. However, the advent of teams offering to sign him to a minor league deal would be unsurprising.

While the latest season was not kind in terms of performances, the Orlando-born first baseman's record of 13 home runs and 42 walks for the New York Mets in 2023 could draw some interest from clubs eyeing additional depth home runs and walks.

3 possible landing spots for Daniel Vogelbach in free agency

#1 - Los Angeles Angels

The Los Angeles Angels have had the most exciting offseason so far. While they missed on a superstar signing like Blake Snell, the front office has done an impressive job revamping the roster with the signature of three-time NPB All-Star Yusei Kikuchi. Given their activity so far, it won't be a surprise to see the Angels offer Daniel Vogelbach a deal, even if it is a minor league deal.

Vogelbach has shown his best performances in the past, even earning an All-Star selection in 2019 after hitting 30 home runs and 76 RBIs. If he regains his best in 2025, he could be a solid, low-cost depth addition for the Halos.

#2 - Miami Marlins

The Miami Marlins could be an intriguing landing spot for Vogelbach. While the former All-Star must prove that he can still perform at the MLB level, he could help bolster a lineup that struggled to put up runs in 2024 should he rediscover his rhythm with the bat.

The Marlins need to revamp their team, and bringing in a proven veteran, even in a bench role, could help the team put on a better offensive performance in 2025.

#3 - Chicago White Sox

An interesting offseason awaits the Chicago White Sox. After setting the modern MLB record with 121 losses in 2024, the club will be worth monitoring as the new year approaches.

The club has already shown they are willing to gamble on low-cost veterans coming off poor seasons by signing Austin Slater - who played for three teams in 2024 - this offseason.

The White Sox may somehow take a similar route with Vogelbach, given their 2024 season finish will put them out of the running for any high-profile free agents. Should Daniel Vogelbach bounce back in form in 2025, he could also be a trade chip for the Chicago franchise as they continue their rebuild.
