DeGrom leaves start after four shut-out innings
New York Mets pitcher Jacob deGrom exited his start against the Atlanta Braves after four innings due to injury on Wednesday.
DeGrom had allowed no runs, two hits and struck out six in his four innings of work. The 2015 MLB All-Star threw just 46 pitches before leaving with a hyperextended right elbow.
The 29-year-old – replaced by reliever Paul Sewald – appeared to hurt himself on a swing and miss during an at-bat in the game.
DeGrom has thrown 18.3 successive scoreless innings for the Mets.
He carried a 3-0 record with a 2.06 ERA into Wednesday's start.
