Former AL MVP Josh Hamilton's estranged wife detailed their strained relationship that ultimately led to their divorce
Josh Hamilton has been a controversial figure in MLB for one thing or another. One of his most well-known scandals would be the poor treatment of his ex-wife, Katie Chadwick.
“He didn’t want to deal with it,” Katie said
During an interview with Sports Illustrated, Katie revealed how it really was living with someone that was volatile and abusive.
After suffering in the aftermath of Josh Hamilton's various relapses, the outfielder finally decided to divorce his ex-wife.
Chadwick recalled the incident as something that the Texas Rangers star didn't want to deal with. She said that Hamilton wanted the divorce to be over with but didn't want to deal with the situation.
“He just wanted to push [the past] under the rug and act like nothing ever happened. I wanted to know, Why are you doing these things? And it was just something that he couldn’t do.”
She expressed her grief by saying that Hamilton wanted to hide his past away from the eyes. It is a well-known fact by now that the outfielder was abusive and unfaithful throughout their relationship.
Not to mention the constant relapses that he suffered would bring him back to the starting point. Katie didn't want this part of her life to be kept under wraps anymore.
She wanted an answer on why she was treated so badly by her ex-husband, Josh Hamilton on why her ex-husband did what he did. This is why Katie Chadwick fought back in her own way to gain her self-worth back.

Known for his abusive behavior, Josh Hamilton can be said to not have been close to his children. In the same interview, his children talked about what it was like to have him as a father.
“Now that I’m older and I know so many of the things that did go on, I’m like, Oh, my God, how did you put up with that? Why didn’t you tell us?” said Julia Hamilton
Julia said that back then she didn't understand how strange things were between her mother and father. But now, looking back on it from an adult's perspective, she understands how difficult it was for everyone involved.
She feels especially bad for her mother, who had to live with an abusive partner, Josh Hamilton. Julia wants to ask her mother why she stayed with him and why she just didn't leave.
“There was a lot we didn’t know" said Julia
Now that Julia thinks about it, there is not a lot she knows about her father, Josh Hamilton. For her, he would forever be a scary figure who bought her remembers wanting never anger as she didn't know what would set him off.
