"I don't know how women do it" - When Mike Trout was in awe of wife Jessica after birth of their son Beckham
Although Mike Trout has known his wife Jessica since the pair were in high school, the three-time MVP is constantly learning new things about their relationship. As he once revealed, the biggest catalyst for one of these epiphanies was the birth of their first child, Beckham in 2020.
The pair met nearly two decades ago at Millville High School in New Jersey and married in 2017.
As a result of the 2020 COVID pandemic, Trout got to spend extra time with his wife. Ahead of the LA Angels' season opener against the Oakland Athletics on July 24 that year, Trout praised his wife for her strength during the pregnancy.
He told PEOPLE:
"I just can't wait to meet him, we're excited. Jessica has been really strong and brave. I don't know how women do it."
Less than a week later, Jessica delivered Beckham Aaron Trout on July 30.
Having met her future husband in a Spanish class, Jessica Cox decided to enroll at Lebanon Valley College in Annville, Pennsylvania, to study teaching. Although she had a brief career as a middle school teacher in New Jersey, Jessica gave up teaching when she and her husband moved to Newport, Beach California.
Mike Trout takes his role as a father very seriously
On June 30, 2024 - almost exactly four years after Beckham's birth - Mike and Jessica Trout welcomed their second son, Jordy Michael Trout.
"Little brother is here! Beckham’s sidekick has arrived. You fill our hearts with so much joy, Jordy Michael! God is so good," a joint social media post by his parents read.
