On Thursday, Dylan Cease became only the second pitcher in San Diego Padres history to throw a no-hitter. Against the Washington Nationals, Cease turned up a notch battling rain delays to no-hit the home team on the road, as he pitched nine hitless innings, which included three walks and nine strikeouts.

Celebrating his no-hitter was a friend and his former teammate Carlos Rodon's wife, Ashley. She used this opportunity to post a throwback photo of Cease and Rodon with a perfect caption to highlight their achievements.

"Just a couple kids who threw no-hitters," she wrote in her post.
"@lgio27 [Lucas Giolito] you made a peep appearance too," she added, highlighting another former White Sox teammates who threw a no-hitter.

Interestingly, all three former White Sox ace pitchers delivered no-hitters. In August 2020, Giolito pitched a no-hitter for the White Sox against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Moreover, earlier in April 2021, Rodon also threw a no-hitter as a pitcher for the White Sox against the Cleveland Indians. And now Dylan Cease joins the list, albeit in different threads.

Lucas Giolito, Dylan Cease and Carlos Rodon were all once part of White Sox's rotation

There is one team that might regret seeing Dylan Cease's no-hitter and that would be the White Sox, who, by the way, have the worst record in majors.

However, all three pitchers mentioned above who have achieved the rare feat of no-hitter once formed the White Sox's rotation.

Carlos Rodon, who was with the White Sox since 2015, became the first of the trio to depart in free agency after the 2021 season. He signed a two-year, $44 million contract with the San Francisco Giants. Thereby, he opted out of his second year and signed a six-year, $162 million contract with the New York Yankees ahead of the 2023 season.

Lucas Giolito arrived at the White Sox in 2017 and stayed there till the 2023 season, following which the team traded him to the LA Angels. His stay with the Anaheim club was short-lived and he was claimed off waivers by the Cleveland Guardians before becoming a free agent. For the 2024 season, he is signed to a one-year contract with the Red Sox.

Finally, our day's hero, Dylan Cease, made his MLB debut with the White Sox in 2019, forming an integral rotation with the above-mentioned two pitchers. However, with the White Sox again underperforming this season, he was traded to the San Diego Padres in March.

From 2019 to 2021, all three pitchers were with the White Sox, during which the club posted regular season records of 72-89, 35-25 (shortened season due to COVID-19) and their best 93-69 year-over-year.

The team's inability to sustain star players on payroll resulted in a crumbling White Sox and since then, they are still trying to stitch back a good team.
