Jarren Duran earns 2024 Hank Aaron Award nomination
Jarren Duran was among the 10 American League finalists for the Hank Aaron Award. The award was established in 1999 to mark the 25th anniversary of Hank Aaron’s all-time home run mark.
Winners are selected by votes from a combination of a Hall of Fame panel and fans. Other AL nominees include the Houston Astros' Yordan Alvarez, Toronto Blue Jays Vladimir Guerrero, Jr., and New York Yankees Aaron Judge.
For Duran, 2024 was a breakout season in which he hit 21 dingers, racked up 48 doubles, 14 triples, and swiped 34 bases.
Those numbers made Duran the third player in Red Sox history to hit 20 homers and steal 20 bags, joining Mookie Betts and Jacoby Ellsbury.
Duran’s breakout season was a bright spot in a relatively disappointing season for the BoSox. The team finished middle of the pack in the AL East, failing to secure a playoff spot.
This upcoming season, the Red Sox and Duran hope to change that narrative. With the Yankees and Blue Jays loading, the Red Sox have made moves to complement existing core pieces like Jarren Duran, Rafael Devers and the newly acquired Garrett Crochet.
Another solid season from Duran will go a long way toward helping the Red Sox catch their archrivals atop the AL East, potentially leading the Red Sox back to the World Series.
