Jackson Holliday's sister Gracyn Ivy responds 'I love you' to dad Matt’s sweet 'daughter's day' snap calling her 'the coolest'
For Baltimore Orioles rookie Jackson Holliday, family has played a massive role in the development of his career. On Wednesday, the MLB freshman's sister praised the impact their father has had on them.
In honor of National Daughter Day, Gracyn Ivy Holliday lauded her father Matt on Instagram. Responding to her father calling her "the coolest," Gracyn wrote, "I love you!" in a post.
Additionally, Matt's wife Leslee reached out with an Instagram post of her own, saying she loved "opportunities to tell you how grateful I am for you" to her daughter.
A seventh-round pick by the Colorado Rockies in 1998, Matt Holliday made his debut with the club in 2004, shortly after the birth of his son Jackson. Between 2004 and 2018, Holliday played in over 1,900 MLB games, winning seven All-Star nods, four Silver Sluggers and the 2011 World Series.
In 2022, Jackson Holliday was taken first overall by the Baltimore Orioles and made his debut earlier this season. A .169/.227/.290 hitter in 56 games this year, Holliday has also hit five home runs and 23 RBIs.
Matt and his wife Leslee married in 2000 and have four children. In addition to Gracyn and Jackson, they also have two sons, Reed and Ethan. Ethan, who is still in high school, is expected to be picked high in the 2025 MLB draft.
Jackson Holliday eyes postseason opportunity
With their win over the New York Yankees on Wednesday, Jackson Holliday and the O's clinched their second straight postseason berth. In the locker room celebration, Holliday's teammates set up a bird bath fountain with champagne-styled water bottles for "Baby Bird" Jackson, who is not old enough to drink alcohol. The 20-year-old told MLB.com about the gesture:
“I had something like that in Norfolk last year. ... A little bit different here. A little bit more organized."
Part of a young, talented and hungry team, watch for Jackson to follow in his father's footsteps this October. Undoubtedly, Matt, Gracyn and the whole Holliday family will be paying close attention to their son's first playoff experience.
