Jonathan India Trade Rumors: 3 possible destinations for Reds infielder amid interest from teams
Cincinnati Reds slugger Jonathan India is starting to find his form once again at the plate, and the timing could not be better. Many believe he could be on his way out ahead of the trade deadline, and is increasing his stock.
During his last two games, India has hit 4-for-9 with a home run and four runs scored. It has raised his batting average to .278 on the season through the first 81 games of the season.
Unfortunately for India, there are not many teams that have an immediate need for a second baseman. However, there are a few that do, and some that could use his bat coming off the bench, which we will dive into.
3 possible landing spots for Reds slugger Jonathan India
#3 - San Diego Padres
The San Diego Padres are reportedly looking for a bench upgrade and could look at Jonathan India to help fill the void. He could be used late in games or to give guys like Jake Cronenworth, Luis Arraez, or Donovan Solano a day off.
#2 - Texas Rangers
The Texas Rangers are another team that is looking to upgrade their bench options during the trade deadline. They are not looking to make big moves as they have some key starters looking to come off the IL during the second half.
#1 - New York Yankees
The New York Yankees seem to be the best fit to land Jonathan India. While he has only played second base with Cincinnati, he played third base in the minors, an area of need for the club.
The Yanks may need his presence at second base, though. Gleyber Torres exited Friday's game as the slugger has been dealing with reoccurring groin tightness. Trading for India would help across the board, but with an extra year of club control, he would not come cheap.
