Mets Trade Rumors: Top 5 potential targets ahead of deadline

The New York Mets are one of several teams looking to strike a deal ahead of the trade deadline. While several teams are ready to trade players by the trade deadline, it could be the perfect opportunity to strengthen the team.

The second half of the MLB season will kick off, and Carlos Mendoza will try to make a run for the postseason. While it seems to be a tough challenge, it's possible to get ahead of the Braves in the NL East.

Five potential targets for the Mets

#5 Tanner Banks

The Chicago White Sox are a lost cause with their disastrous 27-71 record. The White Sox are the worst team in the majors and will look to build from scratch. Left-handed pitcher Tanner Banks could be a potential target for the Mets. While Banks has been limited in his performance, he could shine in the NL East.

#4 Erick Fedde

Another top prospect from the White Sox is Erick Fedde. The Orioles and Cardinals are also rumored to be linked with Fedde, but a sweet deal with the AL Central opponent could land both Banks and Fedde.

#3 Jesse Winker

Jesse Winker is No. 3 on the list of potential targets for the Mets. Adding more depth to the outfield will help, especially as Winker is having a decent season. However, they must have a decent proposal to get a hold of Winker. The slugger is slashing .260/ .374/ .806 this season with 11 home runs and 43 RBIs.

#2 Tanner Scott

The Miami Marlins are looking to trade Tanner Scott, as per MLB insider Jon Heyman.

The southpaw will become a free agent at the end of the 2024 season. The Marlins could get a better deal if they consider a trade option at this point. Adding a southpaw to the Mets lineup will benefit the team.

#1 Garrett Crochet

This is not going to be an easy one, as many have predicted Garrett Crochet to remain with the White Sox.

Yet, his name has been on the top of trade rumors. Given the chance, Crochet remains the best prospect for the Mets, as they could top it all with the talented pitcher.

The Mets need to bolster their lineup to emerge as a tough competitor, with less than 15 days remaining before the trade deadline.
