MLB Pitchers Power Rankings Predictions: Hunter Brown climbs, Logan Gilbert falls out of top 10 in week 24
As we inch closer to the end of the regular season, MLB pitchers have done their thing this year. There have been aces picking up right where they left off last season alongside some new arms that have been fun to watch.
The rankings have been all over the place this season, which shows just how competitive some team's rotations are. Today, we look to predict the top 10 arms and where they could stand in week 24.
MLB Pitchers Power Rankings Predictions - Week 24
10. Paul Skenes
Paul Skenes was one of the biggest stories of the season. He quickly became the Pittsburgh Pirates' ace after making his MLB debut in May. While he has been elite, Pittsburgh is starting to fizzle out, and he has not gone past five innings in his latest two starts.
9. Logan Webb
Logan Webb has been a workhorse for the San Francisco Giants. He leads the National League in innings pitched (183.2) and has been a reliable start for a struggling SF team.
8. Seth Lugo
Seth Lugo has come out and delivered in his first season with the Kansas City Royals. He is coming off a great win against the Cleveland Guardians on Wednesday, going seven innings and striking out four.
7. Hunter Brown
Hunter Brown is another pitcher coming off a big win. Last week, he went 6.2 innings against the Royals, winning the game 6-3. The Houston Astros rotation has started to figure it out at just the right time, which is not good for the rest of the MLB.
6. Hunter Greene
Hunter Greene was left off previous lists due to the uncertainty of his elbow injury. However, it is believed that he will be able to return to the mound before the season ends.
Before his injury, he was dealing. He went 9-4 with a 2.83 ERA while throwing a career-high 143.1 innings.
5. Blake Snell
While Blake Snell had a short start on Thursday against the Arizona Diamondbacks, it was not all his fault. A throwing error and a dropped third strike resulted in his first-inning outing. However, with what he has done lately, it is hard to judge him on this weird outing.
4. Framber Valdez
Framber Valdez has returned to being the ace of the Astros organization. He is coming off a huge win against the Royals where he went seven innings, giving up no runs and striking out seven.
3. Zack Wheeler
Zack Wheeler has quietly been dominating in the MLB hitters all year. He has been a reason for Philadelphia's success, sitting atop the NL East. He holds a 13-6 record with a 2.63 ERA on 167.2 innings of work.
2. Tarik Skubal
Tarik Skubal has been elite this season with the Detroit Tigers. He is tied with Chris Sale for most wins (16), holds the second-lowest ERA (2.51), and is the strikeout leader in the National League (201).
1. Chris Sale
Chris Sale has been excellent for the Atlanta Braves, especially after they lost their ace, Spencer Strider. After a few injury-riddled seasons, he is finally back to dominating big-league hitters with his quirky delivery.
Sale holds a 2.46 ERA, leading all other MLB pitchers alongside his 206 strikeouts. There is no denying he has been one of the best and is a frontrunner for the NL Cy Young Award.
