Kansas City Royals: Much needed lineup changes
After yesterdays embarrassing display of offense, Ned Yost has made a few much needed changes to his lineup.
Alcides Escobar is no longer batting 2nd. In the last 7 games, Esky has batted .200, while going 5-25 in that span. Overall, it seems that Escobar is far more productive in the 8/9 spot. Batting 2nd tonight, Eric Hosmer. In the last 7 games, Hos is batting just .125. During that time he 3-24. I would expect to see Hosmer batting third once Omar Infante comes back from his AAA rehab assignment.
I finally got what I have been waiting for. After missing the last 5 games with a hand injury, Salvador Perez is finally back. Salvy will be batting 5th tonight. It’s no secret that Royals fans missed Salvy. Brett Hayes was absolutely miserable at the plate. I don’t have to even bother looking up stats to tell you that Brett Hayes is batting 0. Yes, 0. Triple slash line is as follows: .000/.000/.000. It is a relief to have Perez back both at the plate, and behind it.
The Line up for tonight’s game (which can be seen on Baseball night in America, which is channel 4 for most people) is as follows: Aoki RF, Hosmer 1B, Butler DH, Gordon LF, Perez C, Valencia 3B, Cain CF, Escobar SS, Ciriaco 2B. Pitching tonight will be “Big Game” James Shields. Bring the heat, Shields. We’ll need it.
