"My teammate now has a broken f****** collarbone” - When Jerry Hairston fumed at Carlos Quentin for bench-clearing brawl that injured Zack Greinke

Back in 2013, Zack Greinke was a member of the Los Angeles Dodgers. He got the start against the San Diego Padres in a game that would be talked about for years to come.

In the sixth inning, San Diego's Carlos Quentin came up to bat and was hit in the shoulder. He took exception to that, as the two had previous history, and charged the mound.

Greinke took the brunt of the impact with his shoulder, which resulted in him breaking his collarbone. His teammates, especially Jerry Hairston were furious afterward, per USA Today's Bob Nightengale.

"My teammate now has a broken f****ng collarbone," Hairston told reporters. "Excuse my language, but that's unbelievable."

It was not just Hairston who had some choice words for reporters. Matt Kemp also got involved, throwing some shade at Quentin.

"That's terrible for him to charge the mound like that," Kemp told reporters. "I think Carlos Quentin went to Stanford. I heard there's some smart people at Stanford. That wasn't too smart."

The Broken collarbone caused Greinke to have surgery. He would then miss over four weeks after surgery before he could get back on the mound for the Dodgers.

"It's just stupid is what it is. He should not play a game until Greinke can pitch. If he plays before Greinke pitches, something is wrong," said Don Mattingly.

One thing that was not a rare occurrence was Carlos Quentin getting hit by pitches. Some batters are just magnets, whether it be where they stand at the plate or unfortunate luck.

Before this game, Zack Greinke had hit Quentin when he was a member of the Chicago White Sox. Quentin went to charge the mound but was helped back before reaching Greinke.

This time, nobody was there to stop Quentin, and it resulted in an unfortunate injury. Greinke then went on the record to state that he had never intentionally tried to hit Quentin.

"The only thing I'm going to say about the whole thing that happened there is I've never hit him on purpose. I never thought about hitting him on purpose," said Greinke.

This was one of the more memorable benches-clearing brawls in some time. This one actually had some action outside of the standard yelling and pushing that typically goes on.
