New York Yankees coach on Josh Donaldson: "I think JD is going to be a big part of this team this year"
After a disappointing season, Josh Donaldson is looking to rebound in 2023. The New York Yankees' infielder failed to live up to expectations in his first year in the Bronx. He has had a turbulent relationship with the media and fans and will look to redeem himself in the upcoming season.
With spring training now in full swing, the right-handed slugger is confident he can return to his old form. Donaldson has put in the work during the offseason, and his coaches are optimistic he can return to his previous levels.
Yankees veteran bench coach Carlos Mendoza was full of praise for the third baseman:
"I think JD is going to be a big part of this team this year"
As per a recent article by Mark W. Sanchez in the New York Post, Donaldson looks ready to go for the upcoming season. His coaches have seen a change in his attitude and professionalism since his return.
"Physically he looks really good. I like where he’s at right now physically, mentally," added Mendoza
Donaldson had an underwhelming 2022 season by his high standards. After finishing with 26 homers, 72 RBIs and an .827 OPS in 2021, his form dipped last year.
