New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone plans to "beat teams up" this year

The New York Yankees were among the most feared teams in the entire MLB last season. They blasted a league-best 254 home runs as a team, with 62 of them coming from their record-setting outfielder, Aaron Judge.

Although the Yankees objectively have more starpower than virtually any other team, management was also an important tenet of their success last year. Since Yankees manager Aaron Boone joined the team in 2018, the Yankees have gone 427-281 with two divisional titles.

As he manages the New York Yankees, Aaron Boone has been subjected to a level of criticism from the fanbase that managers in smaller markets never have to endure. However, Boone has proven to be a very meticulous skipper who knows how to sustain winning habits.

Boone is a former player, having made his name in a Cincinnati Reds uniform before retiring in 2009. Some have pointed to his past playing experience as a reason why he is so effectively able to understand the experiences of his players.

In a recent speech to the New York Yankees at their spring training facility in Tampa, Boone made no bones about his 2023 strategy. According to a player speaking to the New York Post, Boone has given his players the following message:

"We gotta have some b***s, we gotta have that eff you in you to go out there and beat teams up"

Many believe this is a veiled reference to the Houston Astros, who have been a perrennial thorn in the side for the New York Yankees. The Astros were the only team in the AL to have a better 2022 record than the Yankees. The Astros were also the ones to eliminate the Yankees after a 4-0 series sweep in the ALCS.

Aaron Boone cannot get a better roster, now he will have to prove his worth to New York Yankees fans

Although Boone has been able to compile an impressive managerial record with the New York Yankees, his failure to get the team to the World Series is beginning to blacken his CV.

With stars like Aaron Judge and Anthony Rizzo set to stay around, and pitchers like Nestor Cortes and Gerrit Cole ready to fire up their world-class arms, Aaron Boone is running out of excuses.
