"6pm ET deadline doesn’t apply to him" - Trevor Bauer's agent Rachel Luba 'working on' pitcher's MLB comeback as trade deadline passes

The 2024 MLB Trade Deadline officially concluded on Tuesday with several teams opting to be sellers. While there was a lack of star names moving at the deadline, one former MLB star remains up for grabs for teams in need of a starting pitcher.

Although the trade window has been shut, MLB teams can still sign former LA Dodgers pitcher Trevor Bauer. In a tweet on Tuesday night, Bauer's agent Rachel Luba clarified that the former Cy Young winner's potential suitors could sign him beyond the trade deadline.

According to Luba, Bauer can be signed until Aug. 31 since he is a free agent. He needs to be officially added to a roster before Sept. 1 to be eligible to pitch in the postseason.

"Many teams could use him and we’re still working on it. That said, the 6pm ET deadline doesn’t apply to him since he’s a free agent. He would just need to be signed by August 31st and on a roster by September 1 to be postseason eligible."

Rachel Luba's message is seemingly an open invitation to MLB teams in pursuit of arms to add to the starting rotation in pursuit of a postseason berth.

Trevor Bauer displays his game awareness from the mound in latest video

Trevor Bauer hasn't pitched in the MLB since his last stint with the Dodgers in 2021, which ended abruptly amid sexual assault allegations. While teams refrained from signing the former Cy Young winner this offseason, Bauer and his agent have continued to campaign for a return to the major leagues.

Bauer, currently playing for the Diablos Rojos del Mexico in the Mexican league, frequently posts mic'd-up videos of his outings.

He posted another clip on Tuesday showing the homework he does on opposition hitters. As soon as the hitter walked to the plate, Bauer pointed out his weakness was a fastball and shot a four-seam fastball straight up. While the hitter called the bluff for a ball on the next pitch, Trevor Bauer made him swing on consecutive curveballs to strike out the batter.
