Aaron Boone’s electrifying one-word reaction to Giancarlo Stanton’s record-breaking home run in World Series Game 5
The New York Yankees are not giving up.on their World Series dreams as the Yankees offense led by Giancarlo Stanton is putting up a show against the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 5 on Wednesday.
The Yankees took the lead after captain Aaron Judge's first home run of the World Series in the first inning to send the Yankees Stadium into delirium. Jazz Chisholm Jr. went deep in the next at-bat as the hosts surged to a 3-0 lead at the end of the first inning.
Following another run from Alex Verdugo's RBI single, it was the turn of the hottest Yankees hitter in the postseason this year. Veteran All-Star slugger Giancarlo Stanton, who has silenced his critics with a remarkable postseason, added a seventh home run this October after a solo shot in the third inning. Yankees manager Aaron Boone, who was micd up during the play, summed it up with a one-word reaction.
"BANG!" Boone uttered as Stanton struck it for a solo home run.
Giancarlo Stanton's seven home runs are the most by a Yankees player in the postseason. He also moved joint third in the all-time postseason home run leaders for the franchise, tied with Micky Mantle with 18 homers, only behind Derek Jeter (20) and Bernie Williams (22).
Yankees collapsed after Giancarlo Stanton's historic home run
However, things came down crashing for the hosts in the top of the fifth inning after a defensive collapse allowed the Dodgers to make merry with a five-run inning to tie the game.
Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman, who has been a thorn for the Yankees, added a two-RBI single to make it 12 RBIs in the Fall Classic, tying the most by a player in a single Fall Classic.
Teoscar Hernandez followed with another two runs to punish Yankees ace Gerrit Cole, whose no-hit bit ended with three earned runs in the fifth.
