"Aaron Judge is behind… Gunnar Henderson?" "Mike Trout below Kirk is insane" - MLB fans react to top 100 baseball players of 2025 projections
Baseball player lists are always exciting to follow as they bring out the most raw emotions from the fans. FanGraphs, a site that helps fans with advanced statistics about their favorites, released their predictions of who they felt will be the top 100 players as the 2025 season approaches.
Shohei Ohtani was ranked No. 1 in the list. The Dodgers star is set to return to the mound and rejoin the rotation. His two-way skills are projected to keep him among baseball's best players for years to come.
But there were certain rankings, ommissions and additions that baffled fans. Gunnar Henderson was put over Aaron Judge at No. 2. The Yankees captain is coming off a superlative season yet again, recording 58 home runs, almost breaking his American League record again.
"Aaron Judge is behind… Gunnar Henderson???" a fan wrote.
"Gunnar above Bobby Witt Jr. = a joke," another fan said.
Mike Trout was ranked No. 56, with other mediocre players like Blue Jays' Alejandro Kirk named higher than the three-time AL MVP.
"Mike trout below Kirk is INSANE😂," another fan said.
"Mike trout at 56? This isn’t a serious projection," a fan commented.
Fans were disappointed to see Boston Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran ranked at No. 100. Many believe he is better than several players listed ahead of him.
"Projecting Duran to go from 5 to 100 just “because” is kind of hilarious," a user wrote.
"Jarren Duran 100th lol please delete this," another fan replied.
Shohei Ohtani also takes top spot in ESPN's early fantasy rankings for 2025
There is absolutely no doubt that Shohei Ohtani will be the most sought-after player for fans for the 2025 season. The Dodgers DH was ranked No. 1 in ESPN's 'Way-Too-Early Baseball Fantasy Predictions' for 2025.
Surprisingly or not, Judge was only resigned to the third spot there, too, as Kansas City Royals' Bobby Witt Jr. was chosen for the runner-up position. New York Mets' latest addition, Juan Soto, was ranked ninth but behind his new teammate Francisco Lindor, who finished behind Ohtani for the NL MVP this season.
