Aaron Judge & Giancarlo Stanton led offense "not the story of the Yankees" in postseason, says ex-MLB exec
Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton are back in the ALCS after the New York Yankees took down the Kansas City Royals in the ALDS. They will be looking to push their team to the World Series for the first time since the 2009 season.
The Bronx Bombers did not have too much trouble putting the Royals away. They won the series 3-1, but it was not because of the club's usual contributors.
Judge only had two hits during the whole series while Stanton picked up the slack. However, former Miami Marlins president, David Samson believes the real takeaways are from the bullpen.
"That's not the story of the Yankees. The story of the Yankees is their bullpen," Samson said.
The Yanks' bullpen was absolutely nails. They went through the ALDS without giving up a single run, which is pretty impressive given how hot the Royals were coming into this. Samson added:
"That's how good their bullpen has been. If they can do that then they are going to be really, really hard to beat over a seven-game series."
They say pitching wins in the postseason, and you can see that with how this series went. If the bullpen can keep at it, it is going to be hard to take this club down.
Yankees have shown they can win without Aaron Judge
One of the biggest stories surrounding the Yankees over recent years was their need for Aaron Judge to perform. The club faltered without him in the lineup last season after his toe injury, and it cost them their season.
While he is an important bat in the lineup, he cannot be the only player the team can depend on, With Giancarlo Stanton getting hot and the addition of players like Juan Soto, this club is loaded.
They will match up with a Cleveland Guardians squad that will test them. Cleveland has a great pitching staff and a team that will not quit until the final out is made.
With Aaron Judge having a mediocre ALDS series, expect him to make up for missed time. He was the best hitter in all of baseball for much of the season and can take off with just one swing of the bat.
This series will be one fans will not want to miss. Can the Yanks make the World Series for the first time since 2009 or is it another year of what could have been?
