“Aaron Judge is having seasons like Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig and Barry Bonds” - Derek Jeter compares Yankees captain with legends on Old Timers Day
New York Yankees HOFer and former captain Derek Jeter has lauded his successor Aaron Judge for his extraordinary performance this season.
On August 25 (Saturday), the club celebrated the Old Timers Day at the Yankees stadium, in honor of the 15th anniversary of their 2009 World Series win. The players who were a part of the '09 team were present, like Alex Rodriguez and Jeter, among others.
Judge has had one of the most dynamic seasons of his career this year and is now the leading candidate to win AL MVP. He has played 127 games this season so far, hitting .333, with 1.192 OPS, 49 HRs and 119 RBIs.
He has also become the first player in MLB history to hit .375 or better with 45+ home runs over a 100-game span in a single season.
During the press conference at the Yankees stadium before the Old Timers Day celebration, Jeter praised Judge. He drew comparisons between Judge's performance and that of legends like Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig and Barry Bonds.
"It's ridiculous, I mean people failed to remember that he had a tough first month and there were a lot of questions. And now all of a sudden he is having seasons like Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig and Barry Bonds. I don't know why they keep pitching to him but it's fun to watch"- Derek Jeter said.

Yankees' Aaron Judge has reflected on being compared with legends like Babe Ruth.
"It's not real. I try not to think about it. Even they would say a lot of the Yankee greats here - Mantle, DiMaggio, Maris Babe Ruth. It's tough to comprehend or even think about."
The Yankees started this season dynamically but lost their way when and found themselves in a disappointing slump. However, the team seems to have broken out of the prison and is ready to make history again as they aim to complete their World Series dream.
