"Aaron Judge is a specimen" - 3x All-Star Jimmy Rollins finds 6'7" 270-pound Yankees captain better athlete than legendary HOFer Dave Winfield
Hall of Fame manager Joe Torre, along with former big leaguers Ryan Howard and Jimmy Rollins, compared Aaron Judge with legendary Hall of Famer Dave Winfield. The latter played for 22 years and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2001.
In the latest episode of "The 6-1-1 Podcast," Rollins compared Aaron to the legendary Dave Winfield.
"Aaron Judge is a specimen, what is he, 6"7? 270 or something? What he does at the plate, what he does in the field. There is a guy, Dave Winfield, that he reminds me of, maybe a better athlete. Those guys are special," Rollins said (38:10).
Ryan Howard spent his whole big league career playing for the Philadelphia Phillies, while Jimmy Rollins played for the Phillies, Los Angeles Dodgers, and Chicago White Sox. Joe Torre also had a 17-year-long career in the big leagues and served as manager of many of the MLB's biggest franchises, mainly the Yankees and the Dodgers.
Aaron Judge smashes his 50th home run of the season
Aaron Judge brought his 2024 home run tally up to 50 with a first-inning blast against the Colorado Rockies on Sunday in the series finale. With the visitors taking the lead in the top of the first, Judge's two-run home run in the bottom of the inning came at the perfect time to give his side the lead.
The Yankees captain is once again enjoying a spectacular year with the bat and is on track to break his own record of 62 home runs in a season (in AL), which he set in 2022. The 32-year-old is the obvious favorite to win the AL MVP award at the end of the season, given that he leads the majors with 50 home runs and 120 RBIs.
The Baltimore Orioles have come from behind to win two games in a row against the Houston Astros, and the Yankees were upset by the Rockies on Saturday, bringing the O's back within a half-game of the Bombers.
