“AL Central teams are dirty”; “Too many pitchers throwing inside fastballs” - Dodgers fans fume as Teoscar Hernandez takes a hit in the ankle

Los Angeles Dodgers star Teoscar Hernandez had one of his worst days on the field on Friday after taking a big hit on his ankle against the Cleveland Guardians. It's a tough time for the Dodgers of late, especially after having several key players on the injured list.

Just before Hernandez's injury, the Dodgers placed Gavin Stone on the injured list due to shoulder inflammation. The last thing the team needed was losing out on Hernandez. During the first inning, Guardians starter Matthew Boyd threw an 81 mph slider that got Hernadez on his left ankle.

In hardly a couple of seconds, Hernandez was down on the ground in agony. It was a horrible blow for the Dodgers as Hernandez was forced to exit the game struggling in pain. Manager Dave Roberts rushed to the plate to check on his player, but Hernandez could not stay in the game.

Dodgers fans have been upset with the recent string of injuries. With Teoscar Hernandez being the latest one on the list, they couldn't help but vent their frustrations on social media.

Here's a look at some fan reactions on X/Twitter:

"AL Central teams are dirty. First Mookie. Now Teoscar," one fan said.
"Too many pitchers throwing inside fastballs and they don’t have command of their throws. It’s not safe and something needs to be done," another fan added.
"That pitcher should have to stay out of baseball as long as the injured batter is out. It’s BS every year they will hit key players at key times," one fan added.

Several Dodgers fans were sad to see Hernandez leaving the game, while some expressed their concern for the slugger:

"What did I do to deserve this," asked one fan.
"Unbelievable. I hope he'll be okay," another fan said.
"Definitely hope it is not as bad as it looks - he has been awesome this season!!" another fan chipped in.

Teoscar Hernandez's injury comes at a crucial time

Teoscar Hernandez has been a bright spot for the Dodgers since the beginning of this season. Hernandez smashed 28 home runs with 87 RBIs in 527 appearances at the plate so far this season.

Hernandez's injury comes at a crucial time for the Dodgers, especially since they are battling the Padres for the NL West Division title. The playoffs are less than a month away, and Hernandez's absence will likely cost the Dodgers.
