Alex Rodriguez predicts potential landing spots for Shohei Ohtani: "He's either going to end up as a Dodger or Yankee... add the Mets in there too"
Not many players have impressed Alex Rodriguez quite like Shohei Ohtani has. Like the rest of the baseball world, he has been mesmerized by Ohtani's ability. Rodriguez poised him as the "modern-day Babe Ruth" during the championship of the World Baseball Classic.
It's going to be an interesting season for the two-way flamethrower. He's in the final year of his contract with the Angels, and A-Rod thinks the two sides will go their separate ways after the season. He sees Ohtani jumping ship to the Los Angeles Dodgers, New York Yankees, or New York Mets.
On potential landing spots for Shohei Ohtani, Alex Rodriguez said:
"He's either going to end up as a Dodger or Yankee... add the Mets in there too... I think he will be our first $50M player"
The Mets are one team that has publicly stated they would be all in on Ohtani when he becomes a free agent. The Mets came as no surprise, but neither do the other two teams Alex Rodriguez mentioned. The Dodgers and the Yankees aren't afraid to spend money, and that's what it will take to land the two-way All-Star.
This season is going to be a make-or-break for the Los Angeles Angels. They will need a special season to convince Shohei Ohtani to stay with them, who is looking to compete in the postseason, especially after his experience in the World Baseball Classic.
No player in the league is generating as much hype as Ohtani is. If he decides to end his time with the Angels, expect every team to make him an offer.
Alex Rodriguez is calling for Shohei Ohtani to become the highest-paid player in the league
Alex Rodriguez believes that Shohei Ohtani will become the highest-paid player in the league when this is all said and done. Max Scherzer is currently the highest-paid player in the league by AAV and makes $43.3 million a year.
That is the closest any player has gotten to $50 million, but if anyone deserves it, it is Ohtani. He's doing things the baseball world has never seen before.
He is compared to Babe Ruth, but he's doing more than what Ruth did. Ruth only pitched full-time for two seasons. The 2023 season will be Ohtani's fourth full season on the mound.
It will be interesting to see where Ohtani may end up when the season ends.
