"All my life preparing myself for this moment" - Jazz Chisholm Jr. ecstatic about playing playoffs in Yankee Stadium
Jazz Chisholm Jr. could be one of the major X-factors for the New York Yankees when they open their 2024 postseason. The 26-year-old from the Bahamas has enjoyed a successful tenure with the Yankees since being acquired from the Miami Marlins before the trade deadline.
Now, he will be looking to make an impact for his new club in the postseason. Although the Yankees will need to wait and see which team between the Kansas City Royals and Baltimore Orioles will advance, the versatile Chisholm cannot wait to get their World Series run rolling.
The All-Star explained that he has been waiting for this moment since he was a kid.
"I used to be in backyard as a kid just dreaming of going to the playoffs and hitting in the bottom of the 9th with the crowd going crazy," Jazz Chisholm Jr. said of himself envisioning this moment as a child.
For many young baseball players, coming through in the clutch for their team during the playoffs, or even better, the World Series, has always been the dream. When it comes to Jazz Chisholm Jr., he believes that his entire baseball journey has led him to this point.
"This has been all my life, I've been preparing myself for this type of moment and playing in Yankee Stadium in the playoffs and getting to the World Series and winning it," he continued.
Chisholm will have plenty of opportunities to prove himself to the New York Yankees faithful throughout the postseason, however, he will need to perform right away. Both the Royals and Orioles are serious threats to bring New York's playoff run to an abrupt end.
Jazz Chisholm Jr. has been an answer to the Yankees' third-base issues
While acquiring Jazz was always considered a win for the New York Yankees, there were questions about where he would play on the field.
Prior to the blockbuster trade, the Yankees struggled mightily to find a consistent performer to man third base throughout the season. That being said, his defensive versatility has arguably been more important than his production at the plate.
Given the struggles of some of the Yankees veterans such as DJ LeMahieu and Gleyber Torres, there were question marks about the infield.
Now, Chisholm will likely see the majority of the the play at third base throughout the postseason, giving him additional opportunities to live out his childhood dream of coming up clutch for the Yankees in the playoffs.
