"All Mets fans can relate to this" - Pete Alonso’s wife Haley raves about ‘special’ team, gears up for NLCS in LA
The New York Mets are gearing up for a showdown against the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NLCS. Mets All-Star slugger Pete Alonso's wife Haley reflected on the team's journey, hailing the "special" group of players.
The Mets are the exception in this year's postseason as they are the only team in the championship series to have come through the wild card rounds. While it hasn't been a smooth ride, the New York team has shown remarkable fighting ability and resilience to make it this far despite being the underdogs against the Philadelphia Phillies in the NLDS.
Despite the rollercoaster ride in the postseason so far, Pete Alonso's wife has enjoyed the team's journey. She posted a story on Instagram, saying:
"I've been saying this for the last week but this is the most fun I've ever had watching baseball. I know all Mets fans can relate to this. This team is real special. Off to LA for the NLCS."
The Mets defeated the Milwaukee Brewers in a dramatic wild card series which saw Pete Alonso rescue the team with a three-run homer in the ninth inning of the series decider to clinch an NLDS berth.
Pete Alonso and wife Haley share a warm moment after NLCS triumph
However, it was a straightforward ride in the division series against the Phillies as the Mets eliminated one of the strong contenders to go all the way this season in four games.
Following their triumph, Pete Alonso and his wife shared a kiss at Citi Field after the NLDS Game 4 win on Wednesday. The duo started dating during their college days before getting engaged in 2018. They got married three years later in Tampa and are parents to a French bulldog named Brody.
The Mets play the first two games of the best-of-seven series at Dodger Stadium in LA starting Sunday. The next three games will be hosted by Citi Field before heading back to California for the remaining two games if required.
