All-Star pitcher prefers facing Aaron Judge over Juan Soto for a hilarious reason; hails Yankees duo as MLB's 'best 1-2 punch'

Toronto Blue Jays' pitcher Chris Bassitt recently talked about who he would rather face in a "game on the line" situation between Aaron Judge or Juan Soto. Bassitt is currently having a decent season for the Blue Jays, with a 4.34 ERA, 1.44 WHIP, and 134 strikeouts for the season.

Both Judge and Soto have been in great form for the New York Yankees this season, capable of taking control and deciding the outcome of the game.

Talking to Chris Rose on the latest episode of the "Chris Rose Rotation," Bassitt had a hilarious reason for choosing to face Judge in a crunch situation (37:20).

"I'd rather pitch to Aaron Judge, the reason is because if he gets a hold of one, it's going to go further than if Soto gets a hold of one. The power numbers are a bit better with Judge. I'd also rather face a righty than a lefty."

Talking about how the two stars perfectly compliment each other in the Yankees' offense, Chris added:

"It's the best 1-2 punch in baseball, it's crazy what they've been able to do together. It's fun to watch but also not so fun when you're going against them."

Aaron Judge homers in Detroit as Yankees shutout Tigers in opening game, Tigers come back to claim series

The New York Yankees beat the Detroit Tigers, 3-0 in the opening game of the series at Comerica Park on Friday. The Yanks took control early as they got a run on the board in the top of the first. Ace Gerrit Cole registered his latest succesful start on the mound as the hosts were shut out by the visitors.

Aaron Judge, in typical Aaron Judge fashion, hit another home run in the Motor City, this time out of the park at the top of the 8th inning. This sealed the deal on a comfortable victory. His stats for the season now stand at a .332 batting average, 44 home runs, and 111 RBIs.

After their inital win, the Tigers came back to win the next two games and clinch the series on Monday. Tarik Skubal registered another solid outing on the mound, with Judge also commending his play.

Next up, the Yankees welcome the Cleveland Guardians to the Bronx for the opener of what promises to be another very entertaining series. After giving up the chance to establish a lead over fellow AL East challengers the Baltimore Orioles, home fans will be hoping their side can get back on track against Cleveland.
