“Are we sure this is allowed”; “How much do the Yankees fine him per game” - MLB fans shocked as Jazz Chisholm Jr. wears green belt on Yankee uniform
When it was announced that the Yankees had acquired Jazz Chisholm Jr. on July 27, it was immediately expected that the flashy Bahamanian's style would gel with the club's fanbase. Now, Chisholm Jr. appears to have challenged the very iconography of his new team.
Since joining the Yankees, Chisholm Jr. has been sporting a green belt that reads, "We are not the same." On Wednesday, the Yankees and MLB shared posts of Chisholm's unique and original style twist, a move seen by many as a tacit endorsement of Jazz Chisholm Jr's departure from the traditional color scheme.

For decades, former New York Yankees owner George Steinbrenner enforced a strict appearance policy for his team. Although this policy has nominally been carried on under the administration of his children, Chisholm's brash clothing addition is certainly tests those limits. Several fans took to X to comment on this.
A 26 year-old utility man, Jazz Chisholm Jr. had previously played for the Miami Marlins from 2020 until his trade last weekend. Though a .249 hitter in 101 games for the Marlins this season, the 26 year-old has slugged to a .368/.400/1.000 slashline with four home runs and eighth RBIs in four games for New York.
One fan brought up the former owner, typing -
"Steinbrenner rolling in his grave."
Some dissenting comments were as follows:
"He's ruining the way, clean it up."
"What a clown."
As would be expected, Chisholm's belt was also endorsed by some online fans. Comparable to the enthusiasm that has been shown to Juan Soto ever since his trade from the San Diego Padres to the Yankees, Jazz need only to continue hitting the way he has been doing.
"He’s brought the energy for sure" - supported a fan.
"Yankees got some serious swag now" - one opined.
"A player with so much swagger" - remarked another.
Jazz Chisholm Jr. has fully embraced his new club
Jazz Chisholm Jr. contributed with a pair of multi-home run games in his team's much-needed midweek sweep of the Philadelphia Phillies. Spurred on by his success, Jazz Chisholm Jr. told MLB.com:
“This is what I live for, I love the lights. I love the big crowds. I love everything like that. It’s super exciting, and I’m enjoying it.”
While his clothing choice might be a significant departure from the team's traditional identity, if his hitting keeps up, this matter might not come under as much scrutiny.
