Baltimore Orioles vs Houston Astros Game Player Stats and Box Scores for August 23
The Houston Astros and Baltimore Orioles met up on Friday for the second game of their four-game series. Houston took the first game by a score of 6-0, so Baltimore was looking to even the score.
Hunter Brown got the start for Houston while Baltimore handed the ball to Cade Povich. Brown had the better start, going six strong innings, giving up one run on three hits. Povich lasted five innings, giving up five runs on eight hits, but his offense had his back.
Houston held a three-run lead going into the eighth inning, but their bullpen collapsed. Bryan Abreu found himself with the bases loaded when up came the red-hot Anthony Santander.
Santander hit a monster go-ahead home run to put his team ahead. Batters later, Ramon Urias hit an RBI triple to make the score 7-5. Baltimore then handed the ball to Seranthony Dominguez to close things out in the ninth, securing the victory.
The victory now moves the Orioles to 75-55 on the year, while the Astros drop to 69-59. However, they still hold the top spot in the American League West.

Jose Altuve, Jeremy Pena, Anthony Santander and Colton Cowser's home runs tonight
There was no shortage of fireworks from both sides on Friday. Two players from each team hit a home run, but it would be Baltimore's home runs that would matter the most.
Jose Altuve was able to hit a two-run home run in the third inning, making it his 17th of the year. Jeremy Pena also got a hold of one for a solo shot in the sixth for his 13th.
Colton Cowser muscled a solo shot off Hunter Brown in the third for his 19th home run of the season. However, none were bigger than Anthony Santander's go-ahead grand slam to seal the game shut. He now has 38 to his name, ranking him third among MLB hitters for most home runs.
Two more games are remaining in this series over the weekend, and if they are anything like tonight, it could be a great finish. Both teams could really use a series win here with tough upcoming opponents.
After the weekend, Baltimore will take on the Los Angeles Dodgers in a three-game series. Houston will travel to Philadelphia to take on the Phillies.
