"Ban him for life!"; "Kind of soft" - MLB fans split over Padres refusing in-game interview with insider after controversial comments
There seems to be no shortage of drama in the MLB playoffs this year, especially in the NLDS showdown between fierce rivals the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres.
Although the Padres thumped the NL West winners in Game 2, much of the talk after the game was about Manny Machado's verbal altercation with Dodgers starter Jack Flaherty and Fernando Tatis Jr.'s back-and-forth with the Dodgers fans at Dodger Stadium.
The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal released a column after the game, taking swipes at Machado and Tatis Jr. Rosenthal's words didn't sit well with the Padres as they refused in-game interviews with the MLB insider after winning Game 3.
MLB fans were divided over San Diego's reported snub of Rosenthal.
"Great!!! Ban him for life!!! Hopefully he’ll lose his job very soon!" wrote a disgruntled Padres fan.
"Kind of soft of them to do so," disagreed a fan.
"Good for them. Don’t sh*t on my living room floor and expect to be invited back," a fan wrote backing the Padres' decision.
More of the fans' disagreement can be seen below.
"In-game interviews are a waste of time. The reporter feeds the questions. You learn nothing. Stop!" wrote a fan.
"Good. Ken has main character syndrome. No one is watching the game because he's there," alleged a fan.
"But the Dodgers were the soft ones huh," mocked a fan.
Fernando Tatis Jr. hits back at MLB insider after Game 3 win
The Dodgers-Padres NLDS has witnessed several dramatic moments from Manny Machado's alleged throw towards Dodgers manager Dave Roberts in the dugout to Dodgers fans throwing objects at Padres players in Game 2 of the series.
Padres star Fernando Tatis Jr., who was called a "dancing peacock" by Ken Rosenthal in his controversial column, fired back at the insider after his clutch home run in Game 3.
Tatis Jr. smoked a two-run homer off Walker Buehler in a six-run second inning on Tuesday as the Padres prevailed to clinch Game 3. Following the game, the Padres All-Star took a swipe at Rosenthal's comments in his Instagram story.
The division series took another turn on Wednesday as the Dodgers completed a blowout 8-0 win to tie the NLDS and take it back to Dodger Stadium for a series-deciding Game 5.
