"Bigger news than Juan Soto";"Next up is Clayton Kershaw" - Fans react as Blake Treinen re-signs with Dodgers for 2-year, $22,000,000 deal

While Juan Soto's record-breaking 15-year, $765 million deal with the New York Mets rocked the baseball fraternity on Sunday, the Los Angeles Dodgers quietly made another move in the offseason.

The reigning World Series champions have retained veteran All-Star closer Blake Treinen for two years. The two-time World Series winner has signed a two-year, $22 million deal, per reports on Sunday.

Although Soto's record deal will be the talk of the offseason, Dodgers fans are elated by Treinen's contract.

"Bigger news than Soto. LFG."
"Next up is Teo and Kershaw and maybe Jack," wrote another hopeful Dodgers fan.
"WE WON A TITLE BECAUSE OF HIM LETS GO," a Dodgers fan wrote applauding the closer's remarkable run in the 2024 postseason for the team.
"Blake has one of the craziest stories. At a point, he almost gave up on bb. Glad to have him in LA!" wrote another fan.
"Love this guy. he may give up a run here and there but he’s a tough pitcher," wrote another fan.

Blake Treinen reunites with Dodgers as World Series winners continue spending spree

Blake Treinen won a second World Series ring with the Dodgers this year after nearly missing two years of action due to injury issues. The 36-year-old reliever returned to action this year, and he was a welcome addition to the Dodgers roster struggling with injury concerns to several arms in 2024.

Treinen pitched in nine postseason games this year, going 2-0 with a 2.19 ERA. His most memorable outing of the season was against the New York Yankees in Game 5 of the World Series as he remained on the mound despite manager Dave Roberts wanting to take him out of the game.

The veteran closer proved his credentials by shutting out the Yankees in his 2⅓ innings as the Dodgers came from behind to win 7-6 and win their second World Series title in four years.

Despite their World Series triumph, the Dodgers are strengthening the roster in the offseason. They signed two-time Cy Young winner Blake Snell for $182 million over five years and extended NLCS MVP Tommy Edman for $74 million.

They are also expected to bring back Teoscar Hernandez and Clayton Kershaw, who elected for free agency after the 2024 season with the Dodgers.
