Bo Bichette Injury Update: Manager John Schneider shares Blue Jays 2x All-Star's progress despite restrictions
MLB analysts Jeff Blair and Kevin Barker, along with Toronto Blue Jays skipper John Schneider, recently discussed Bo Bichette's recovery from injury. Bo is currently out of action due to a right calf strain.
Bichette has had similar injuries to his right leg. During the 2023 season, he had problems with his right knee and frequent quad strains. This seems to be a problem area for the 26-year-old. Hence, he shouldn't be rushed back prematurely.
On Saturday's episode of Blair and Barker, Schneider talked about Bo's development as he worked with the coaching staff to regain full health (6:43).
"Bo [is] continuing to progress well, he's going to have a little bit of a lighter day from a running standpoint today. But, he's going to be hitting, taking ground balls and doing everything else baseball wise. He's making progress for sure."
Blue Jays slump to loss in opening game at Target Field
The Toronto Blue Jays lost in their series opener against Minnesota, 2-0 at Target Field. In a game where runs were at a premium, and each defense was focused, the two scores came in the bottom of the fifth inning. Carlos Santana drove in the first with an RBI single and then scored the second on a Willi Castro sacrifice fly.
Starters Kevin Gausman (Toronto) and Pablo Lopez (Minnesota) registered quality mound outings, conceding two and zero runs, respectively. The visiting hitters, who have been in good form of late, had an off night, as they registered only seven total hits. The victory snaps a four-game losing skid for Minnesota.
The Blue Jays face the Twins on Saturday in game two of three in Minneapolis. Veteran Jose Berrios takes mound for the visitors as they look to even the series.
