"Bo Bichette's been underproductive, injured and got only 1 year of control" - MLB insider thinks teams will downplay & diminish 2x All-Star's value
Analysts Bryan Hayes and Frank Corrado, along with MLB insider Steve Phillips, discussed Bo Bichette's future on Monday's episode of "Overdrive Hour" on the TSN YouTube channel. Bo Bichette is currently out of action for the Toronto Blue Jays due to a calf strain in his right leg.
Phillips talked about how the Blue Jays can try to get the best possible trade value for Bichette once he makes his return from injury.
"There's nothing he can do to hurt it, he can only help it. If he were to come back in the last month of the season, look like himself again, go out there and swing the bat, and put up some numbers and show that he's healthy playing shortstop, if he can stay healthy for the month and show that his legs are OK." This is not the first time Bichette's season has been hampered by injuries in his right leg. Last season, he had issues with his right knee and quad. This appears to be a problem area for the 26-year-old. Also, with the Blue Jays having only one more year of control on Bichette's contract, organizations looking to bring in Bo have an upper hand in negotiations.
"When you look at the value of a player, it's based upon how healthy they, how productive they are and how much more team control do you have. Age is a factor, he's still young, there's that going in his favour. But, he's been underproductive, he's been injured, and he's got only one year of control left, so it doesn't add up to a great value." (Timestamp : 21:33)

Blue Jays recieve update on Bo Bichette's return
Adding to positive results on the field for the Blue Jays, the Toronto side also recieved word about the potential return of shortstop Bo Bichette. Since suffering a right calf strain in July, the 26-year-old was only participating in hitting and fielding drills but has now started running. The Blue Jays will be pleased to see Bichette's progress, who is set to make his return to the side at some point in late August.
Continuing their good form, the Toronto Blue Jays won the opening game of the series against the Boston Red Sox 7-3 on Monday. Coming into the away series after sweeping the Los Angeles Angels at home, this latest win now extends their winning streak to five games.
However, there winning run cane to a halt with a 6-3 defeat to the Red Sox inthe following game on Tuesday.
