Bobby Witt Jr.'s fiancee Maggie Black & wives of Seth Lugo, Cole Ragans, Hunter Renfroe, Brady Singer celebrate Michael Wacha's new 3-year Royals deal
The Kansas City Royals made a positive step in building toward the 2025 season after agreeing on a three-year contract extension with veteran pitcher Michael Wacha on Sunday.
The AL Central team's run through to the postseason, its first in nine years, was built on an efficient rotation and Wacha was a vital part of the cog. Although the Royals' postseason journey ended at the hands of the New York Yankees in the ALDS, the franchise's decision to extend Wacha will please fans.
Following the former NLCS MVP's extension, several of his Royals' teammates and their wives celebrated Wacha's new three-year deal. The All-Star pitcher's wife, Sarah shared the celebratory messages in her Instagram story.
"So, so happy for y'all (and us)," All-Star pitcher Cole Ragans' wife Tori wrote.
"Wacha's are back," Royals star Bobby Witt Jr.'s fiancee Maggie Black wrote.
"Best news everrrrrr!! Cannot wait for another year together @sarahhwacha and Ali River's bestie!!!!" Hunter Renfroe's wife Courtney Beach wrote."
Fellow pitcher Brady Singer's wife Tori also sent a congratulatory message after the news.
Michael Wacha signed a two-year, $32 million contract in December 2023 and could've triggered an opt-out by Monday. However, the Royals tabled a $51 million extension for three years with an option of an additional year for $14 million.
The former Boston Red Sox pitcher had the 10th-best ERA in the American League and pitched the second-most innings of his career this year.
Michael Wacha's wife Sarrah reacts to his Royals extension
Michael Wacha is loving life with the Royals and it's only the second time he will spend more than a season with a franchise since starting his MLB journey with the St. Louis Cardinals where he spent seven years.
Michael's wife Sarah was over the moon after her husband signed a three-year extension with the Royals.
"YAY!! We are so excited to be back with the Royals organization and in the KC for the next few years!!! We are so proud of you @mwacha52!" Sarah wrote in her Instagram story.
