“Certainly, he’s an intriguing name right now” - MLB analyst speculates Rangers star Max Scherzer could be on the list at the trade deadline

Texas Rangers starting pitcher Max Scherzer has been at the center of recent trade rumors. The team has not been able to get the ball rolling this season, sitting with a 39-48 record.

Scherzer has pitched solid this season, despite dealing with a nerve injury. He holds a 1-2 record with a 2.70 ERA but is still working his way back to being 100% healthy.

While Scherzer holds a no-trade clause in his contract, The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal could see Texas moving on from the hard-throwing righty. Rosenthal went on a recent airing of Foul Territory to discuss a potential move.

"He knows he's nearing the end, and he knows there are only so many oppurtunities to go win. So, I don't know if it can be ruled out," - said Rosenthal.

There are plenty of teams looking to upgrade their rotation in the next few weeks. These include the Cleveland Guardians, Houston Astros, San Francisco Giants, and Arizona Diamondbacks, just to name a few.

"So, this is a question that is going to come up. I'm not sure what the answer is, I'm not sure what Max's feelings are, and I'm not sure what the Rangers' feelings are. But, certainly, he is an intriguing name right now" - said Rosenthal.

All of this is going to come down to Scherzer. It will ultimately be his decision whether or not he wants to make yet another move at the trade deadline.

Max Scherzer took the ball for the Rangers on Thursday against the San Diego Padres. While he took the loss, he provided an update about the nerve injury he was dealing with earlier in the season.

After throwing a season-high 90 pitches, he said he felt great. This is good news for teams who may be looking to propose a trade.

"Physically, I'm definitely better. Arm felt better. Got to go 90 pitches, felt strong there and even got into the 7th. From a physical standpoint, I'm really doing well and that's what's encouraging coming out of this start" - said Scherzer.

When Scherzer is on, there are few that are better than he is. Hopefully, Scherzer can continue to feel great following his injury and help out his team, whether he is still with the Rangers or elsewhere.
