"Changeup was not the right pitch" - Trevor Bauer breaks down home run to Alexi Amarista during Mexican League outing

Trevor Bauer has never been someone to hide his emotions, for better or worse. The former National League Cy Young Award winner has not pitched in the MLB since 2021.

However, thanks to his incredibly active presence, Bauer has been able to remain in the headlines. This has also allowed him to showcase his personality on and off the field in a more intimate way.

The former Los Angeles Dodgers superstar has been using his social media account not only as a way to, perhaps, repair his image but to also give fans an insight into his performance.

During his latest stint in Mexico, Trevor Bauer continually broke down game footage of his highlights and lowlights, not shying away from mistakes he made during outings.

One such performance came against the Guerreros de Oaxaca. Bauer, who pitched all last season with the champion Diablos Rojos del México, shared a video about his showdowns with Oaxaca.

In the video, Bauer was not hesitant to break down a massive three-run home run he gave up to slugger Alexi Amarista.

"Changeup is the right pitch...Changeup was not the right pitch. Now, it started in the right zone, it started down and in but it did not move [20:13]," Bauer said after surrendering a three-run home run.

Alexi Amarista, who spent time in the MLB with the San Diego Padres, Los Angeles Angels, and Colorado Rockies, is no stranger to hitting home runs off of Bauer, as he did so early this season.

"I started in exactly the right place but because the movement was different and I wasn't expecting that, it ended up exactly where I was trying to avoid to all of their lefties, down and in. It was 97 this time to save me, it was 88, and it looks remarkably similar to this home run that hit off me earlier in the year [20:45]," Bauer continued.

It was not the last time that Alexi Amarista and Trevor Bauer would run into one another that game

Bauer struggled to find himself throughout the game, however, he stayed in the game for another showdown with Amarista. Unfortunately for the former Cincinnati Reds ace, the slugging infielder would tag him again.

Amarista would hit his second home run of the day off Bauer, helping his club pull off a 5-4 victory. The loss was the first of Trevor Bauer's during his time in the Mexican League.

While Trevor Bauer and his club would eventually go on to win the title, it's safe to say that this poor outing is one that will live on, especially for Amarista.
