Cincinnati Reds' Joey Votto's quirky prediction for the 2023 MLB season is taking Twitter by storm after Talkin' baseball posted a screenshot of the All-Star first baseman's out-of-the-box response.
On Monday (Feb. 27), the official page of MLB asked baseball fans on Instagram to come up with their "boldest NL Central prediction." Votto responded, unleashing his humor:
"Extra terrestrials arrive on earth, April 15th. The 12-2 Reds and the rest of the planet learn from, communicate with, and befriend our alien friends. This process takes 5 months. Play resumes in October. The Reds sweep the playoffs and are World Series champs. Side note: the aliens ask if I would like to accompany them on their ship back to their plant. I oblige. Never to be seen again," commented Joey below the MLB's Instagram post.
His witty comment received over 5000 likes from fans. Votto, who was picked by the Cincinnati Reds, with the 44th overall pick in the second round of the 2002 MLB draft out of high school.
He made his MLB debut in 2007 and is set to enter his 17th MLB seasson in 2023 with the Reds. Here are his career highlights and awards:

Joey Votto expresses gratefulness for love from Cincinnati Reds fans
On Saturday (Feb. 25) Joey Votto expressed his gratitude for all of the support he has received from Cincinnati Reds fans over the last two decades. Over the years, Votto has become one of the best players in the major leagues, and he has been a key contributor to the Reds’ success.
"I feel 18 still. I feel like I just got drafted. It feels like I am ... first time putting on a red uniform. It feels like my first training. I can't explain it how it feels. I get excited and anxious," said Votto with an air of nostalgia. "They (Reds fans) have been so good to me, so steady. ... I feel connected to the fans, and therefore, I want to give back in ways."
Joey Votto's last season was plagued byt injury. However, the All-Star first baseman is hopeful to make a comeback on the mound.
