Despite making an improvement, Volpe didn' offer much offensive production for the Yankees during the regular season but has been on a hot streak in the postseason. The Yankees were trailing the Dodgers 2-1 when Volpe stepped up to the plate for his second at-bat in the bottom of the third inning with two outs on the board.

The Dodgers kept right-hander Daniel Hudson on the mound even though he had hit Aaron Judge with a pitch before giving up a double to Jazz Chisholm Jr. and a walk to Giancarlo Stanton to load up the bases.

For the very first pitch of the at-bat, the Dodgers reliever threw an 89-mph slider over the plate. Anthony Vople hit the ball over the left field wall for a grand slam to put the Yankees in front.

"The approach was the same. I was trying to get on time with a heater and be easy," Volpe said after the game. "Those are my keys to keep it simple. Just see the ball, be easy, and be on time for the heater.
"No, I didn't know," he said. "I was hustling. I didn't know I got it. And then I blacked out, right when it went out."

The grand slam from Anthony Volpe was only the third hit by a Yankees player in the World Series at home.

David Ortiz has been handing out his 'My Dawg' T-shirts to the top performers of every game during this postseason. However, Derek Jeter didn't seem too pleased when Anthony Volpe became the recipient of the latest one on Tuesday evening, in a lighthearted moment on the show.

"You my dawg!," Ortiz exclaimed after puting the T-shirt on Volpe's shoulder.
"No no no. Don't take that," Jeter advised Volpe, showing his true Yankees roots.

Derek Jeter played for 20 seasons as the shortstop for the New York Yankees, winning five World Series titles and numerous other accolades.
