Derek Jeter embracing the girl dad life as he opens the world of sports to his daughters

Yankees legend Derek Jeter is truly relishing the dad life, ten years after closing the chapter on his legendary MLB career.

Derek and his wife Hannah's lives changed after the birth of their first daughter, and they now have three. Derek, Hannah and their three daughters Bella Raine, 5, Story Grey, 4, and River Rose, 1, reside in Miami.

Keen to actively involve his kids in sports, Derek staunchly believes there are great life lessons that you can learn in sports.

"They were taking tennis lessons for a while," Derek exclusively shared with E! News. "I want my girls to be involved in sports, just because there's lessons that you learn from playing sports like work ethic, teamwork, setting goals and you have to deal with failure."

Jeter conceded that while he was never pushed into playing sports, he strongly believes that it is important to pick it up at some point. While he wants them to choose their career path by trying their hand at different things, he sure does wish they play sports too.

"I was never pushed into playing sports, but I think it's important for them to do it at some point," he said. "The fun part of having kids that are so young is you can introduce them to all different types of career opportunities, all different things and you want them to find what they're excited about."

Derek conceded that his kids love music from Frozen and Encanto much to his disgust, and hopes to push them in a new direction very soon. R&B doesn't sound too bad to him!

"I've heard it over and over and over and over again," Derek joked. "I'm trying to push them in another direction, but that seems to be the two right now. I'm going old school R&B with them now, and they're starting to appreciate a few of the songs."

Derek Jeter's family was present at his HOF induction

Derek Jeter's wife, Hannah, and her three little ones were all present at his Hall of Fame Ceremony at Yankee Stadium in September last year.

The three children wore color-coordinated outfits and looked all dolled up. Hannah and Derek twinned in black!
