Devin Williams' girlfriend Maggie Badock makes feelings known after Brewers trade 2x All-Star closer to the New York Yankees

The New York Yankees have acquired closer Devin Williams from the Milwaukee Brewers for the 2025 season. Shortly after the news made headlines, Williams' girlfriend, Maggie Badock, took to social media to share her thoughts on the Bombers' latest acquisition.

On Saturday, Maggie Badock shared an Instagram story featuring MLB's post announcing Devin Williams' trade to the Yankees. Badock seemed content with Williams' decision to don the Yankees jersey in the upcoming season.

"Nyc dreams coming true, but bitter sweet to say bye to the brewers after many years with the org! So grateful for the time we've had in MKE, so much love forever," she captioned the story.

In the 2024 season, Williams recorded a thin 1.25 ERA in 22 appearances for the Brewers. He notched 14 saves and closed out 19 games for his team, despite battling a back injury that delayed his season debut until July 28.

While Williams delivered solid performances throughout the season, his momentum faltered in a crucial moment during Game 3 of the NL Wild Card series against the New York Mets. In the top of the ninth inning, he surrendered four runs, squandering the Brewers' 2-0 lead. However, the Yankees have decided to look past that blunder and expect big things from the closer.

The New York Yankees general manager is excited about the recent Devin Williams deal

The Milwaukee Brewers opted not to extend a $10.5 million deal to Devin Williams for the 2025 season in November. Following a $7 million salary in the previous year, Williams is now entering the final phase of his arbitration eligibility. Yankees General Manager Brian Cashman confirmed that there have been no discussions about a potential contract extension.

Still, Cashman was excited to have Williams on the 2025 roster of the Yankees.

"Big fastball and a devastating changeup; that’s his calling card," Cashman said. "Soft contact, swing-and-miss, ground balls – and the consistency he’s been able to provide for quite some time now. I’m sure we weren’t the only bidders here in the end. He certainly doesn’t seem to be afraid; you can’t do that job if you’re afraid of the big stage."
"This is a high-quality arm to fit in with the ’pen," he added. "It’s not easy to find guys running around of the stature of Devin Williams."

In the hope of acquiring Williams, the Yankees decided to trade the pitcher Nestor Cortes and the prospect Caleb Durbin to the Brewers.
