“Did he really have to use his taser on a 15-year-old boy?” - MLB fans react as spectator gets tased by security guard during Reds vs Guardians game
MLB is a game full of surprises as every season has an unforgettable incident. While some incidents take place between players and managers, several come from hardcore fans. One such situation occurred at the Cincinnati Reds vs. Cleveland Guardians game on Tuesday.
The Reds and Guardians opened their short two-game series at Great American Ball Park. During the middle of the ninth inning, a fan ran onto the field to do a backflip. The excited Reds fan, who wore a Johnny Bench jersey, ran past Tyler Freeman of the Guardians to perform his stunt before the security guards took him down with a taser.
Some fans believed that it was not a good idea to storm the field during a game. However, many agreed that tasing the fan was a harsh thing to do.
"Did he really have to use his taser on a 15 year old boy, lowkey embarrassing," wrote one fan on X.
"Tasing currently under consideration for pitch clock violations and balks in 2025 by MLB," another fan added.
"That 2nd “cop” came in hot and dropped the knee just like a WWF wrestler," one fan chipped in.
Comments continued to flow as several fans agreed that tasing the fan was uncalled for.
"lowkey kinda hardcore too," agreed one fan.
"This is too far. If it’s a dodgers fan you go lethal but all other fans this is too much," one fan compared.
"Security have completely lost their sense of humor," one fan chimed in.
