"Dodgers are in the market for starting pitching" - MLB analyst certain about Los Angeles' trade deadline activity amid recent struggles

Los Angeles Dodgers are on a mission to reinforce their starting pitching rotation. Jon Morosi, a notable baseball insider and MLB analyst, shared his insights on the team's pitching situation during an appearance on MLB Central on July 11.

“I have heard from scout after scout, executive after executive, the Dodgers are in the market for starting pitching,” said Morosi.

Morosi is a prominent figure in the baseball media landscape. His deep connections within the baseball industry allow him access to exclusive information and insights. He added, while speaking on the Dodgers:

“They need the all-star break as much as anybody does."

If available, pitchers such as Jake Flaherty from the Detroit Tigers or Garreth Crochet from the Chicago White Sox might also be potential targets.

Morosi also highlighted the history of trade interaction between the Dodgers and the White Sox, with both teams recognizing the potential value in dealing with each other. This spring of trading could result in the move of Garreth Crochet or Erich Fedde.

The team's starting rotation had been plagued by injuries this season, whether it was Walker Buehler, Tyler Glasnow, or Clayton Kershaw. This disrupted their plans, forcing them to rely on unproven or inconsistent pitchers.

The absence of key starters has exposed vulnerabilities in the rotation, highlighting the need for additional depth and reliability.

Struggling pitcher Bobby Miller demoted by Dodgers

The Los Angeles Dodgers have demoted young pitcher Bobby Miller to minor leagues in a Wednesday roster move. This decision followed up a bad performance by Miller against the Philadelphia Phillies, where he gave up nine runs in four innings. This outing took his ERA up to an alarmingly high 8.07.

Miller showed some promise during his rookie season but has struggled with inconsistency throughout 2024. Despite promising early starts, there were major issues afterwards in his performances.

The management of Dodgers decided that he needed time to regroup and work on his game in the minors.
