Fans mercilessly roast Los Angeles Angels as Mike Trout claims WBC to be "funnest days" of his career
Even though Team USA's World Baseball Classic campaign ended on a losing note, team captain Mike Trout was of the opinion that the last few days had been a wonderful time for him.
Team Japan were crowned WBC champions for the third time as they beat Team USA 3-2. The offense for both teams scored mostly off solo home runs as there were only 14 hits in the match, 9 for Japan and 5 for the US.
The game came down to the ninth innings in a showdown between Shohei Ohtani and Team USA batting line-up. This was the first time he was relieving in a game in almost seven years. After walking Jeff McNeil, Ohtani got rid of Mookie Betts and took out McNeil on a double play.
This brought Team USA captain Mike Trout to the batter's box. It was a showdown for the ages, as in the ninth inning of the final with 2 outs and a one-run game, the two Los Angeles Angels stars faced each other. The matchup even went to the final pitch with a 3-2 on board before Mike Trout struck out swinging.
Even though Trout might have felt disheartened having ended on the listing side, he was satisfied with the fun he had playing baseball along with other top stars in the MLB.
But fans wouldn't let this comment go as they jumped onto Twitter troll the Los Angeles Angels' lack of success.
There were plenty of calls for Trout's "freedom" as fans have constantly asked for Mike Trout to be left free from the Halos.
Apart from the trolling some fans were in agreement with Trout over his remarks as they felt the WBC was able to bring enough entertainment to baseball fans in the offseason.
