Fans welcome Miami Marlins 'tealing back the years' by bringing back original pinstripe uniforms
The Miami Marlins are mixing things up this season as they will wear their 1993 throwback jerseys for all of their Friday home games this season.
"Here are the 1993 throwbacks the Marlins will be wearing for Friday home games (via @Marlins)," Talkin' Baseball tweeted.
The jersey is a replica of the one the Florida Marlins wore in 1993, the year the organization made its MLB debut.
While what brought about the sudden fondness for their original teal-and-black uniforms still remains a mystery, one thing is for certain: the decision was met with strong approval and great fanfare.
Miami Marlins and baseball fans flocked to Twitter to express their adulation for the retro jersey. Many couldn't contain their excitement at the prospect of seeing the Marlins clad in those jerseys when they trot out onto the field every Friday.
The 1993 Miami Marlins jersey is a work of art, and comfortably sits alongside other legendary jerseys that include the 2020-present yellow/brown pinstripe San Diego Padres, 1975-1986 Houston Astros, 2021 City Connect Miami Marlins and the ever-famous New York Yankees pinstripes.
The teal and white was truly special, and the decision to bring it back is only going to make the team more popular.
The Miami Marlins won their first World Series title in 1997
The Marlins won the first of their two World Series titles in 1997 and won their second in 2003.
The titles were marred by controversy and turmoil as the organization ended up selling their big names and choosing the path to rebuild each time.
The Florida Marlins are the only team to make the playoffs and win a World Series in its first two winning seasons, despite never winning a division title.
