"Financially not gonna happen" - Phillies insider doubts Juan Soto joining ex-teammates Bryce Harper, Trea Turner in Philadelphia for '$600,000,000'

On Tuesday, Philadelphia Phillies insiders Corey Seidman, Spencer McKercher and Sean Kane talked about Juan Soto's chances of potentially joining the Phils once he enters free agency in the offseason. One of the most sought-after talents in the sport at the moment, Soto's future has been a topic of much debate for pretty much the entirety of the 2024 MLB campaign.

After an exceptional season with the New York Yankees, Soto's services will certainly not come cheap, and it is still up in the air if the Yankees will be able to keep him. Soto spent time with Bryce Harper, Trea Turner and hitting coach Kevin Long during their Washington Nationals days. With that in mind, the Phillies are one of the teams that could have a shot at potentially recruiting the Dominican star before the 2025 season.

On October 29's edition of 'Phillies Talk', however, Sean Kane explained how competing with other teams that are ready to break the bank, there's a pretty low chance of Soto ending up in Philadelphia. [27:19]

"It pains me to admit, I would love it... But yes, he's going to go to the highest bidder, if Scott Boras' track record is any indication. I think that contract's going to be like $600 million. I think he ends up back with the Yankees, but, if not, if the Mets and the Dodgers want to enter the fray they'll enter the fray." Kane said [27:19]
"I would love it [if he came to the Phillies], and obviously there's the connections with Kevin Long, his former hitting coach, and of course all his former teammates, Harper, and Turner... and even Schwarber. I just don't think financially that's going to happen." Kane added [27:42]

Juan Soto talks about team's fighting spirit as the Yankees win Game 4 of World Series

The New York Yankees beat the LA Dodgers 11-4 in Game 4 of the World Series at Yankee Stadium on Tuesday. Despite going down two runs, the Yankees held their nerve and got the job done in a game they had to win to stay alive.

Following the important victory, Yankees star Juan Soto talked to the press, crediting his team's fighting spirit for a huge result under enormous pressure.

"We never give up, that's what we do. Even if we are in the worst spot, we've been showing it all year long, we never give up. We're here, we try to keep competing and doing our stuff. Definitely, today we did a really good job." Juan Soto said.

After looking like they might go down without a fight, the Yankees, courtesy of their latest victory, have a much-needed foothold in the series. Fans will hope they can now continue to build off of that, with no more room for error if Juan Soto and co. wish to end the season holding their 28th World Series title.
