"Food does not bring us near to God" - Teoscar Hernandez cites 1st Corinthians from the Bible as Dodgers welcome the Pirates
In his first season with the Los Angeles Dodgers, Teoscar Hernandez has been excellent. He has started 113 games, hitting .268/.332/.500 with 25 home runs and 74 runs batted in, being yet another source of power in LA.
He has been huge for the club that has seen injuries to star players like Mookie Betts or Freddie Freeman being absent from the team. This could not have been a better free-agent signing for LA.
Hernandez is a spiritual person, and often shares bible verses ahead of his games. Thursday was no different as he shared 1 Corinthians 8:8-9 ahead of the series opener against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
"But food does not bring is near God; we are no worse if we do not eat, and no better if we do. Be careful, however, that the exercise of your rights does not become a stumbling block to the weak" - Hernandez posted.
Outside of bible verses, Herandez has not used his X account for much else this season. There is no denying the slugger is locked in this year.
Dodgers slugger Teoscar Hernandez just wants to be "consistent"
Baseball is a tough game. Not many other sports can an athlete fail as much as hitters do and still be considered great. If you are not prepared for the ups and downs of this game, you may not play up to your potential.
Teoscar Hernandez understands this and has been working hard on how he prepares for games. In a recent interview with Dodgers reporter Kirsten Watson, Hernandez spoke about his goals this season.
"It just goes the way that you prepare yourself. For me, it's not proving that I can do it for a whole season, it's just trying to be consistent with my work and let the results be the results," - said Hernandez.
All Hernandez is doing is trying to be consistent with his results both at the plate and in the field. He is not trying to be perfect or putting too much pressure on himself to perform.
"I try to do the little things because I know if I do the little things, the big things will happen during the game" - said Hernandez.
Hernandez has a great mindset and LA could not have asked for a better player to come and join them for the 2024 season.
